Feb. 1st, 2010 10:25 pm"Good morning, Dr Neal," said the receptionist as X-99 entered the reception room of the practise he'd shared with three others. "Your patient list is waiting for you—here."
A sheet of paper with a list of names was placed next to the cup of coffee and muffin she always made sure was there the minute he got in. She was reliable that way.
"Thanks Melissa," X-99 said, stifling the third yawn he'd made since entering the room, and as had been his habit as of late he found himself silently wishing that Crimson Guard Command had given him a different role to play. One that didn't require him to get up so early in the morning in order to face cafeteria-grade coffee and literally snot-nosed children who really should've stayed home instead of coming in to see him, bringing their cold germs with them.
Silently. As no one here was even aware of what he did after he went home for the night.
"Remind Dr Ross to have that coffee maker replaced. This brew's worse than it usually is," he said just before he turned the corner.
Twenty-five patients. It was going to be a long day, he figured. He wasn't expecting....
